Analogue Networks, civil rights advocates and comedians alike all rushed to denounce the racist rant of the man now known as KKKramer. The owner of the Laugh Factory comedy club banned him for life and fellow comedian, Paul Rodriguez, proposed ending free speech, ‘"Once the word nigger comes out of your mouth and you don't happen to be African-American, then you have a whole lot of explaining(to do)."
The part we didnt see was anyone putting the video in the context in which it was taken or explain why what was being said was being said. Its understandable that CNN would miss the mark. They were probably exhausted after putting the news on hold for three days so we could hear their commentary denouncing the immorality of FOXNews for interviewing OJ Simpson. FOX dropped the interview almost everywhere in the country and the bulk of book sales be generated from the millions of people who were bombarded by CNN with segment after segment calling for a boycott of the book and fox. I guess they didnt see that Jesse Jacksons boycott of the boardgame Ghettopoly, boosted sales, and more recently the boycott of ann coulters book about greedy 9-11 widows, also generated sales, (her book had an eerie resemblance to an essay i did in high school on the genius marketing campaign responsible for timing the death of Eric Clapton's son, to take place shortly before the release of Claptons single,"Tears in heaven." The only difference is my essay was for a class studying Jonathan Swifts, "Modest Proposal"). Today, CNN forgot to report on the number of preorders and water cooler word of mouth sales they were responsible for and they beamed with self righteous idignation at successful censoring FOXnews. They began the day questioning the motives of FOXs decision and the legitimacy of Murdochs repentance. But then smuggy weather was shattered when a story hit the wire that sent shockwaves through Hollyhattan. No lets use Manwood. This story was so core-shaking that Wolf began reporting when only the first letter of the segment was complete. "we have reports that an N-word was used...by Kramer "Michael Richards." And CNN had the tape.
They proceed to show the tap of Michael Richards getting heckled by a black audience member and he starts getting annoyed. Hecklers are historically a stand-up comedians arch nemesis. Kramer decides to show the man his point of view and proceeded to reverse the roles. He then sarcastically flailed around the stage while shouting racial epithets, and badly channeling some Gestapo, Stooge, Redneck character to show him that he could get under his skin just as easily. It worked a bit too well and the man got up yelling that it was uncalled for. the heckler turned heckled, appeared to be getting the the context of the charade but still gets mad because Kramer is pissed off and wants to show how easy it is to piss someone off, and it worked.
Kramer begins to calm down and, at one point, looked like he was going to explain it to everyone, but something else is said and Kramer goes right back into role. It escalates until its out of control and the entire room is pissed off. If he was a better comedian he couldve gotten away with it but he's obviously a bit of a hot-head, but his point was still valid and he took it to a level most people wouldnt go. It was very immature of him to go the level that he did for the purpose of proving his point, but hes not harbouring deep seeded hate or any underlying racism, bottled up and carbonated that when the proper control, or mento, is added to the solution, it explodes out in the way Mel Gibson demonstrated. After i thought Kramer was going to get it worse then Mel Gibson did because he hung around to face the bandwagoneers rather than using the tactic of the times... checking into rehab and hope the flames die down, but the News doesnt wait to report the facts anymore. When the facts are incomplete the networks can report whatever wild allegations havent been disproven yet. And its easy to get big ratings with speculative gossip thats usually a lot juicier than the truth.
GOOGLE EXPLOITS UNPAID LABOR OF CHILDREN TO MAKE MILLIONS
YOUTUBE, AQUIRED BY GOOGLE FOR 1.6 BILLION DOLLARS, IS USING CHILDREN TO PRODUCE %70 OF ITS CONTENT, PAYING THE 12-17 YEAR OLDS NOTHING WHILE MAKING MILLIONS EVERY MONTH FROM THEIR WORK.
Mountainview, CA - A recent report released by the Nielsen Ratings says that %70 of the millions of YouTubers are children. The report says, "12-17 years old index the highest among the various age groups." and this is creating quite a stir among childrens rights advocates calling it a, "gross violation of california law." California law defines the entertainment industry as, "any organization, or individual, using the services of any minor in: motion pictures of any type (film, videotape, etc.), using any format (theatrical, film, commercial documentary, television program, etc.), by any medium (theater, television, videocassette, etc.); photography; recording; modeling; theatrical productions; publicity; rodeos; circuses; musical performances; and any other performances where minors perform to entertain the public.”
Obviously, Youtube falls under this category. Its owners, Google.com, will claim that the children it uses to produce millions of hours of video editing, rendering, acting, video and film, are not their employees. But again, california law (which google loves to tout as its constitution) states, "responsible persons may not permit a minor to perform these work activities under any circumstances, even if the minor is not technically his or her employee." and the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement 46.1 defines hours worked as, "all of the time... suffered or permitted to work, whether or not required to do so." And the CA Child Labor Laws say, "private entities providing services...are not exempt from federal wage requirements, unless the service is related to skiing."
Google is in violation of the law and is using illegal contracts to keep the kids quiet by making them think they are not entitle to wages because the children have, "parental consent." But in California, minors are required to have parental consent and a work permit to be legally employed in the state. The law reads, "Minors aged 15 days* to 18 years employed in the entertainment industry (as defined above) must have a permit to work and employers must have a permit to employ issued by the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. Permits are required even when the entertainment is noncommercial in nature." It later says “Parents or guardians (in addition to employers, agents, managers, etc.) who permit the minor to be employed unlawfully in the entertainment industry (which includes any violation of state regulations governing minors in the entertainment industry] are liable for any civil and criminal penalties that arise from the violation." We seriously doubted parents would knowingly break the law and subject their children to this so we read the through the agreement contract on Youtubes website and nowhere did it require proof a signature of a parent/guardian or a proof of permit from the State . We searched the website for a permit to employ minors from the state of california and found none.
Google seems to have predicted this eventuality and attempts to bully the kids with their illegal agreements on the youtube site saying, "Don't try to look for loopholes or try to lawyer your way around them—just understand them and try to respect the spirit in which they were created." Basically they are saying, dont use the law to expose our criminal operation because we meant well and you should trust us because we, "dont do evil." They are sounding more like the Bush administration all the time.
There are several other laws that google forces children to waive their rights to for membership on the site, "You further understand and acknowledge that you may be exposed to User Submissions that are inaccurate, offensive, indecent, or objectionable, and you agree to waive, and hereby do waive, any legal or equitable rights or remedies you have or may have against YouTube with respect thereto, and agree to indemnify and hold YouTube... harmless to the fullest extent allowed by law regarding all matters related to your use of the site." This is also a violation of the California Child Labor law that states, "Minors under 16 MAY NOT be employed or permitted to work in any capacity In any occupation dangerous to the life or limb, or injurious to the health or morals of the minor." Luckily, California law voids illegal contracts and they don't hold up in court.
Google may claim that its an undo hardship and too complicated to pay people, especially children, for the works they receive. So we checked other sites with similar video services. Panjea.com, who generates only a fraction of the revenue of google, is one such site who understands and obeys the law and gives its members and young filmmakers %50 of the ad revenue that is generated from their work and creative efforts. We asked one member of panjea, known only as larf, how he feels about youtubes violations. "Im absolutely sickened by this but it really doesn't surprise me. Google tries to stifle competition while growing fat generating record profits from the contents of youtube, built mostly by the digital slave labor of its users...kids. You have to be suspicious about a company whos philosophy is, don't do evil. Why is it not, do good? If this isn't evil then what is? Is Google using the same judge to change the meaning of evil, that Bush used to rewrite the definition of torture in the Geneva Convention?" Google has yet to comment on these gross allegations but a complaint is being filed with the california department of labor.
