18 yr. old graffiti artist "El Barto" arrested and held on $100,000 bail.
Here is the statement released by the Santa Rosa PD: After an ongoing investigation, detectives from the Property Crimes/Narcotics Team working in collaboration with the Graffiti Abatement Program Coordinator and School Resource Officers, executed two search warrants at the residences of a serial vandal who writes his tag name “El Barto” and “Bart” on various locations throughout Sonoma County and San Francisco. These locations include occupied residences and businesses through the City, as well as public places including freeways, signs, and fences. The search warrants revealed a large amount of evidence connecting the suspect to vandalism/graffiti in Santa Rosa. This evidence included many spray paint cans, markers, drawings similar to those used in the vandalism, and photographs of the acts of vandalism he committed with others. This investigation is ongoing and may involve other suspects. It is suspected he is responsible for several hundred acts of vandalism and over $100,000 in damage. Three examples are the K rail on the Hwy. 101 widening project, 1215 Humboldt Street (residence) and 2245 Montgomery Drive (Redwood Regional Medical Group). Arrested at his Ridgeway Avenue residence was Saif Senussi Azzuz, an 18 year old Santa Rosa resident, who was booked in lieu of $100,000 bail on multiple felony vandalism charges.
